Arcadia School District officials showcased the District’s new Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) station this week at the District’s maintenance yard, 35 W. St. Joseph Street.
The District has received nearly $500,000 in grants for the project spearheaded by Dr. Brook Reynolds, AUSD Director of Operations and Transportation, which will result in fuel and maintenance cost-savings of up to $40,000 per year and eliminate an estimated 400 tons of greenhouse gas emissions each year.
The California Energy Commission (CEC) contributed $300,000 to the CNG project through a grant, and the Mobile Source Air Pollution Review Committee (MSRC) contributed an additional $175,000.

“Ultimately we would like to expand and have a second compressor and two additional storage tanks,” Reynolds said.
