Wigwam, Okoboji and Sewanee

Arcadia has three interesting and unusual street names. Wigwam was named for an orange juice stand that was located at 141 E. Foothill Blvd., a favorite place to drop in for some freshly squeezed juice in the 1920s and 30s. Okoboji was named for a small town in Iowa by the developers of the street in the early 1950s. Sewanee Lane was also named by its developers. As it happens, Sewanee, Tennessee is the home of the University of the South, also known as “Sewanee,” a college founded in 1857.
