Michelle Yu Zhang has been selected from among 37 Salutatorians to be Arcadia High School’s Valedictorian for the Class of 2012. She will deliver the Valedictory Address at AHS’s 58th Annual Commencement ceremony at Santa Anita Park on Friday, June 15.

During her four years at Arcadia High School, Michelle has earned a perfect 4.0 grade point average while taking a very rigorous schedule of classes, including thirty semesters of honors and Advanced Placement level courses in mathematics, science, English, history, and world languages. Michelle is an Editor for the Apache Pow Wow student newspaper and currently serves as President of both the Art Club and Destination Imagination. Michelle’s artistic talents have led her to twice having her works displayed at the Pasadena Chalk Festival. She was also honored with a first place award in the Chinese American Museum’s National Art Competition. Outside of AHS, Michelle has served as an laboratory research assistant at CalTech and has served as a volunteer and Student Volunteer Chairman at the LA County Arboretum. She attended Holly Avenue Elementary School and Dana Middle School. This fall, Michelle will attend UC Berkeley, where she plans to pursue a major in Molecular Biology.
Zhang was chosen by the school’s Valedictorian Selection Committee from the following list of this year’s group of Salutatorians, all of whom have cumulative grade point averages of at least 3.95.
